Happy Memorial Day from Hemp Authority

In hemp industry news, Sen. Ron Wyden introduced an amendment to the farm bill on May 20, 2013 that would allow farmers to grow industrial hemp. Wyden plans to talk to Sen. Debbie Stabenow, who is floor-managing the farm bill, about the provision. The amendment is supported by Sen. Jeff Merkley, Sen. Rand Paul, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Several states, including Oregon, Vermont and Kentucky already allow farmers to plant hemp crops if they are licensed to do so, but these states need the federal law amended before farmers can begin planting. Ron Wyden was quoted as saying, “I firmly believe that American farmers should not be denied an opportunity to grow and sell a legitimate crop simply because it resembles an illegal one.”. This bi-partisan movement is slowly gaining supporters on both sides, and is picking up momentum. Vote Hemp, an organization put together by the Hemp Industries Association to which we are a proud member of, had been pushing a grass roots effort to go along with the political momentum by urging people “CALL Your Senators in Congress
Ask them to cosponsor & vote for the Industrial Hemp Amendment to the Farm Bill.
“. We back this 100% and encourage everyone to do so, we plan to make our voice heard this week for our representatives.

For Hemp Authority, we continue to run in 20 different directions behind the scenes. One topic of concern for us is we have received a few phone calls dealing with some errors by our shopping cart during checkout. We *think* we have fixed all of them, but shopping carts are a bit of a fickle beast so it is something we will continue to monitor. We have also hired a consulting firm to take some of the heat off of us for some online sales and marketing strategies. As the company continues to grow, their are only so many hours in a day to work on various things. Because sales are obviously a critical area, we have brought in experts in the matter to help us not only grow our sales faster than we would be able to, but it also allows us to focus on other areas at the same time to keep things growing and running smoothly. Our hope is this will allow us more time to focus on expanding our offerings, both on a product level and as we continue to work on building our B2B and wholesale capabilities.
