Hemp news and Hemp Authority UpdateJesse Clymer
In Hemp industry news, KY continues to be a hot bed of activity, Stumbo recently declared the hemp bill dead where it stands, but the uninformed blowhard’s statement doesn’t even warrant a link to a source for it. But, Agriculture Commissioner James Comer’s quote, “Speaker Stumbo is a tone-deaf, one-man band trying to kill the only jobs bill this session, … This bill has come to symbolize everything wrong with Frankfort, and I hope Stumbo’s fellow Democrats recognize the backlash that will result if they follow their leader on this one.”, deserves a thumbs up from us. Also, if you fancy a fairly long but incredibly comprehensive read on hemp uses, history, and current state, Denver Westword News put out a great piece on it this past week. It may not be the most noteworthy outlet, however the overall quality of the piece cannot be discounted.
We have started to put pins up on our Pinterest account, so if you are on Pinterest please feel free to check us out! We will be adding more over the course of the week. Our server seems to have had a little too much to drink on St. Patrick’s day and is spitting out wrong images on our site for no reason, so we shall wait until it sobers up before we try to add more. Over at Life With Lisa, they did a nice review of our socks and have a giveaway attached to it for $50 in Hemp Authority stuff! Over the next few weeks we will be putting together our possibilities for the fall and winter lineups. We posted an article written by MIT in regards to expansion and the realities of it are really starting to hit us hard. It is almost impossible to even find American textile companies willing to even talk to us about clothing lines, let alone get a bid when we bring up custom fabrics (hemp of course!). At the same time, foreign companies are lined up at the door for the opportunity to do business. Since we started we have found great companies like Minawear and Envirotextiles among many others in the United States to do business with, but as a whole the manufacturing machine that used to be the United States needs an overhaul, and hopefully hemp will be a huge part of that. We hope that everyone had a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day, don’t forget hemp is the only way to make real green beer!!!
